JEDDAH: Health experts have reported that they see an increase in number of patients under the age of 35 suffering from heart attack.

They said it is often due to overlooked heart abnormalities or coronary arteries being blocked by blood clots that is formed when plaques of cholesterol rift.

Several physicians have come to recognize another form of heart attack which is common among youngsters. It is caused by sudden emotional stress and tension.

The average age of heart attack is above 40 years, but the hectic lifestyle among youngsters often lead them to suffer from hypertension or high blood pressure and eventually resulting in heart diseases.

“This kind of heart attack is called hypertensive heart disease caused by high blood pressure that leads to thickening of the blood vessel walls. When combined with cholesterol deposits in the blood vessels, the risk of heart attack and stroke increases,” said Dr. Khaled, a cardiologist.

“The cases of sudden cardiac arrest among youngsters sometimes causes death even before the patient is taken to hospital.

“Unhealthy lifestyle is laying the burden on the heart and causing the root of diseases. I often receive patients between the age group of 25 and 35 suffering from high blood pressure and heart diseases,” he added.

Dr. Ahmed G, a cardiac consultant said, “People need to be told how they can prevent the disease with the help of basic steps that they can take to combat hypertension, and reduce stress levels.”

“Steps like proper diet and sleep, regular exercising, and less consumption of tobacco can help reduce the risk of developing coronary heart disease. Moreover, meditation will ensure that people feel optimistic about themselves,” he added.
