Students from the Batterjee Medical College for Science and Technology launched an exhibition to raise awareness of lung cancer at the Red Sea Mall in Jeddah.

The program looks at causes, symptoms, smoking, treatment, early screening, and how to reduce the chances of infection. The students also responded to inquiries with advice and guidance, and distributed brochures and flyers.

Dean Hassan Shaibah said the college has developed several programs and strategies to serve the community. “It is the college’s social responsibility to spread awareness. We established seminars and lectures on religious, cultural and health-related issues,” he said.

Khaled Batterjee, vice chairman of the board of trustees, said that the most important characteristic of the college’s activities is the connection between extracurricular activities and the information students receive in the classroom.

Sobhi Batterjee, chairman of the board of trustees, echoed this view.

A student, Mohammed Ibrahim, said the campaign was helping students fulfill their social responsibility and ensuring they get firsthand experience of how to deal with people.
