Students of the Novel International Group of Institutions celebrated learning through projects, models and exhibits at a grand event hosted in the school campus on Thursday.

The event was organized with the aim of ensuring a more holistic approach toward subjects such as mathematics, social science, robotics, English, Malayalam, Urdu, Arabic, Saudi history and geography and to cultivate interest among students for the curriculum. The show was appreciated by special guests and principals of other schools, who were invited to witness the byproducts of student learning.

“We believe that every child can and will learn and we must build on these positive beliefs. We are determined to empower our students with skills for making responsible choices. We believe that the educational process must provide an environment in which all students are given the opportunity to develop competence that will help them survive as individuals and as members of the society,” said Padma Hariharan, director and head of the Novel Group of Institutions.

Hariharan said that the school earlier celebrated “Starcom Fest 2013,” where students displayed their talent through fashion shows, rhythmic movements, quizzes, speeches, debates, mock Parliaments, henna designs, culinary skills, vegetable and fruit carvings and recycled crafts.

Ilham Saleh, wife of Ahmad Yahya, overseas director and tourism consul at the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, expressed satisfaction that students of the NIS were learning about new countries and exploring different countries beyond the textbook.

“I am truly amazed with the work and exhibits put out by teachers and students,” she said.
