RIYADH: Students have urged the Ministry of Education (MOE) to intervene and extend the date of registration at the University of Najran which had started classes for the current semester.

The students from the university referred their problem to Minister of Education Azzam Al-Dakhil with the hope that they could still register

and enroll for the current semester.

They said that they were suffering from the fact that they could not continue their studies simply because they could not register on time which was not of their own doing.

They said that they were not able to register on time because they had to take examinations that had been delayed, with some of them claiming that they were still taking delayed examinations for the last semester.

Zuhair Al-Amri, university spokesman, said that the university had paid attention to the students’ predicament and gave possible options which they could take.

“The management of the university suggested to the students that they delay their studies by stopping for the time being,” he said.

He added that for those who could not attend regular classes, the university management also suggested distance learning,” he said.

However, the students said that distance learning at the colleges of dentistry and medicine is not feasible for various reasons like the need to personally ask a professor to clarify a certain question on a subject.
