RIYADH: The number of subscribers to mobile communication services in the Kingdom has reached 53.1 million in the first half of 2015, with 45.7 million prepaid subscribers.

The Communication and Information Technology Authority issued licenses to a number of operators across various mobile phone networks at the end of 2014, SPA reported.

Subscribers were given greater choices through the expansion of the communication market, it said.

Regarding telephone lines, the authority said that line subscriptions have now reached around 3.74 million, of which 2.62 million (or 70 percent of the total connections) are home lines. In addition, it announced that there are currently around 1.12 million commercial lines in use.
