JAZAN: The Kingdom has left no stone unturned in helping Syrians affected by the bloody war in that country, but some of them are still seen begging in the streets, especially Jazan.

The streets, market places and parks of Jazan are witness to this new phenomenon. Many Syrians who have come to the Kingdom from Yemen are seen pestering people for alms here. The worrying factor here is that these people mainly comprise women and children.
According to local media, a number of people in Jazan are upset. The question being asked is where are the husbands of the women who entered the Kingdom along with their children.
One of the residents, a Syrian himself, was quoted as saying that this phenomenon is showing the whole community in poor light. He wondered why the officials concerned and security forces are not taking action in this regard.
A number people told local media that the women who beg can easily be exploited by anti-social elements. They also asked if the small amounts of money they collect through begging is enough for survival.
A citizen said he has noticed the begging phenomenon all over the Kingdom and not just in Jazan. The issue is being discussed in many circles, he added.
