RIYADH: The National Water Co. (NWC) has announced that it has completed a water network project in Taif. The project will serve 14 localities as part of Taif’s infrastructural development plans, according to a website.

Said Al-Umari, a senior manager of the services of assets and projects in Makkah, said that the NWC has implemented a number of projects in Taif at a cost of SR162 million. This included extending the network to 14 localities of Taif, including Umm Saba, Al-Anood, Al-Muntazaha, Umm Al-Qura, Assinaiyah, Al-Maaridh, Al-Wahsah and Al-Hamda.

Al-Umari said that the network is 121 km long. There are 2,750 extensions for housing units. This project will serve a larger portion of Taif, which was waiting for the facility for the last 40 years.

This project is the first of its kind implemented by the company involving the laying of pipelines and extensions for homes, he said.

Announcing the project’s completion, Al-Umari said preparations are under way to make it operational in coordination with the concerned authorities and organizations.
