DAMMAM: Ten schoolteachers have filed a lawsuit with the Alkhobar general court against the principal for calling them by insulting and offensive names and branding them as Daesh members.

The principal, who was also accused of failing to discharge his duties properly, has since been suspended, local media has reported, quoting sources. “The case was filed about a month ago and two sessions have been held so far, with all parties appearing in the court.”

Saeed Al-Bahis, official spokesman for education in the Eastern Province, said investigations are under way and “it will be dealt with according to the regulatory procedures followed in such cases.”

Sources were quoted as saying that the principal applied for a transfer to “escape from the possibility of going back to teaching.” He had been appointed principal in a Dhahran school, but he didn’t stay long because disputes started erupting, the report said.

Saeed Al-Qahtani, director of the supervisory office in the Eastern Province, refused to comment on the case. He instructed local media to communicate with the official spokesman for EP education, Saeed Albahis, who said that investigations were under way and the matter would be dealt with according to the regulatory procedures.
