Jeddah Mayor Hani Abu Ras directed municipality secretaries, license directorates, trade control, slaughter houses, public interest markets and the directorate responsible for licensing and correcting advertisement boards to take steps to address the 9,805 complaints that were received through its toll free number 940. The number is allocated to register complaints and suggestions from citizens and expatriates.

This direction came after the General Directorate for Branch Municipalities issued a report that found that some complaints or suggestions made last year have not been attended to until now. The order said all directorates should take steps to address these complaints and file their reports.

The airport municipality ranked first in the number of unaddressed complaints with 2,455 outstanding cases, followed by Al-Sharafiyah with 1,147 outstanding notifications, the new Jeddah Municipality with 977 notifications and Al-Azeziyah with 799.

The report said that the Al-Janoub Municipality had 741 notifications and Briman had 566, Jeddah’s historical area 487, Um Al-Salam 307, Abhar 280 and downtown Jeddah 44 complaints.

Briman and Teiba, meanwhile, registered a decrease in the number of outstanding notifications, with only 48 outstanding cases each.

The vehicles control directorate registered 23 notifications and the General Directorate for Slaughterhouses registered 10 notifications. In addition, five notifications were registered against the General Licensing Directorate and Trade Control.

Jeddah’s Municipality has established channels of communication with citizens via telephone, fax or through its website and smartphone applications.
