Tina Monzon-Palma, program director of the well-known NGO Bantay Bata 163, will pay a seven-day visit to the Kingdom to meet and thank various groups of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) for their support. She arrives on Feb. 20 and leaves on Feb. 27.

Palma is scheduled to meet Philippine Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago in Riyadh and Consul General Uriel Norman Garibay in Jeddah. Palma will also visit OFWs in Taif at a date to be announced later.

“Ms. Tina Monzon Palma’s visit will certainly boost the spirit of OFWs who have been helping the Bantay Bata 163 program in various ways,” Garibay told Arab News on Saturday.

While in Jeddah, Palma will also attend a presentation of the Serenata Children Choir whose first college scholars graduate this year. Bantay Bata advances the four-year allowances of Serenata’s scholars. Palma will also visit four Philippine international schools.

Palma is also a prominent broadcast journalist and her group belongs to the television giant ABS-CBN which reaches Filipinos worldwide through The Filipino Channel (TFC).

Garibay added that “Bantay Bata 163 is just a name for OFWs as they watch it on television render humanitarian services to the needy and disadvantaged children. But it becomes a reality, so to speak, as they meet face to face its program director.”

Palma will also visit the Eastern Province to meet with TFC correspondents as well as OFWs who have helped Bantay Bata 163 programs.

Bantay Bata 163 is a social welfare program of the ABS CBN Foundation. Launched in 1997, it aims to protect the disadvantaged and children at risk through a nationwide network of social services.
