In response to complaints about a recent spike in tuition at local and international private schools in the Kingdom, Minister of Education Azzam Al-Dakheel has called for the formation of special committees to review the issue.

Joining the minister's reviewing campaign, the director of the Department of Education in Asir, Jalwi Al-Karkaman, announced that officials will review tuition in Asir, while the director of the General Department for Private Education, Mohammed Al-Zahrani, confirmed the formation of a committee tasked with overseeing tuition rates.

The committee will then submit completed applications for final review and approval, after which the schools will be informed of the approved tuition for the year 1436/1437.

Private schools in the Kingdom are also under scrutiny lately after the General Department for Private Education advised school owners to ensure that they meet certain visa conditions for the coming school year, especially Nitaqat and Zakat requirements.

Additional conditions include attaching a copy of commercial records, a certificate of the school’s registration with GOSI, a copy of the Zakat and income certificate, as well as the Nitaqat certificate from the Labor Office indicating quota requirements were met.


The Education Ministry also emphasized the need for private schools to submit visa applications for their teachers as soon as possible in order to ensure all necessary procedures are completed before the start of the next school year.
