RIYADH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman on Sunday praised Turkmenistan’s policies, including the country’s neutrality, respect of good neighborhood principle and support to the Islamic Alliance to combat terrorism.
The king made the comment during a meeting with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, president of the central Asian country, at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.
Nine agreements were signed by the Kingdom and Turkmenistan in the presence of the king.
King Salman said the president’s visit comes as a sign of further enhancing the relations between the two countries in all fields, particularly energy, agriculture, livestock and tourism, as well as coordination in combating terrorism and extremism.
The king expressed the hope that the world community would succeed in finding a solution to the Syrian crisis according to Geneva statement and UN resolution No. 2254. He also expressed optimism that the consultations among Yemeni parties would lead to solving the crisis according to the Gulf initiative and outcomes of the national dialogue and the UN resolution No. 2216.
“We call on Iran to stop interfering in the domestic affairs of the region’s countries, and supporting the militias and armed factions,” the king added.
Berdimuhamedow expressed joy over his meeting with the king, thanking him for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to him and his accompanying delegation.
He confirmed the firmness of the bilateral relations between the two countries characterized by yielding fruitful cooperation in all fields, including economic and commercial cooperation.
Berdimuhamedow pointed to his country’s keenness on developing all aspects of cooperation between the two countries and supporting the serious efforts to achieve security and peace in the region and the entire world. An agreement on cooperation in the security field was signed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif and Turkmenistan Defense Minister Yaylym Berdiev. A MoU in the field of sports was signed by Prince Abdullah bin Musaed, chief of the General Presidency of Youth Welfare, and Kakabye Siddove, head of the Sports Committee of Turkmenistan.
An agreement on evading dual taxation was signed by Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf and his Turkmenistan’s counterpart, Mohammed Goli Mohammadov.
An MoU on financing of projects in Turkmenistan between the government of Turkmenistan and the Saudi Development Fund was signed by Al-Assaf, who is also chairman of the board of directors of SDF, and Raheem Berdi Jubarov, president of the State’s Bank Board of Directors for External Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan.
An MoU in the field of commerce and industry was signed by Commerce Minister Tawfiq Al-Rabiah and his Turkmenistan counterpart, Doran Moradov.
An agreement on political consultations was signed by Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir and his Turkmenistan counterpart, Rashid Meridov.
An agreement on cooperation in scientific and educational fields was signed by the Education Minister Ahmed Al-Issa and Turkmen Education Minister, Borly Agamor Adov.
An agreement on air services was signed by Civil Aviation Authority Chief Suleiman bin Abdullah Al-Hamdan and Merdan Ayadiov, head of the National Agency for Turkmenistan airlines.
An MoU between Prince Saud Al-Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Relations Institute of the Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry was signed by Abdulkareem Al-Dakheel, director general of Prince Saud Al-Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies, and Baba Dhahrove, director of the International relations institute of Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry.
