The Border Guard arrested two Yemenis and seized 52 kilograms of hashish in their boat in Jazan on Monday night.

Brig. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Mahfouz, spokesman of the Border Guard in Jazan, said the drugs were hidden under the boat’s gas tank.

Bin Mahfouz thanked the commander in Jazan for acting swiftly to arrest the smugglers, and for other efforts taken to protect the nation.

Meanwhile, the Border Guard revealed that in the first six months of the year it seized 14 kilograms of hashish and around 4.9 million narcotic pills.

Brig. Mohammed bin Saad Al-Ghamdi, spokesman of the Border Guard, said the security body had arrested 163,000 infiltrators and 2,500 smugglers from seven countries over the past six months.

It had also seized 2,000 weapons, 75,000 rounds of ammunition, and 144 kilograms of Qat.

Al-Ghamdi said this could not have been achieved without the help of Allah and the efforts of the Border Guard officers, who placed themselves in danger to protect the country’s people.
