Two men in their thirties have been arrested in Riyadh for their alleged involvement in several incidents  of armed car robbery, police said Wednesday.

In a press statement, the Riyadh Police Department said several expatriates had earlier reported to police stations in eastern and central Riyadh that their cars were stolen at gunpoint by two suspects.

Operatives of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation later cornered the suspects, who confessed to committing several such crimes in various neighborhoods, the statement said.

“Two individuals have been arrested and investigations are underway to determine if they have any connection with other such registered cases. Investigations will also determine if they have engaged in other criminal activity,” it said.
