A fire gutted two mechanical workshops on Iskan Street in south Jeddah Wednesday afternoon. No one was hurt.

The Civil Defense sent seven firefighting units and two rescue teams supported by water tankers and ladders to the scene. Director of the Civil Defense in Jeddah Brig. Salim Al-Matrafi and Director of Operations Col. Ghazi Al-Ghamdi supervised the field operations.

The teams struggled to stop the fire from spreading to other workshops and establishments in the area. Rescue teams opened passages in the workshops for the firefighting teams.

Efforts are underway to assess the extent of the damage. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
