A speeding van veered off the road and crashed into a commercial building under construction on Saeed bin Zaid road at Uhud neighborhood in Dammam on Thursday. The driver had a providential escape despite the seriousness of the accident.

Witnesses said that the vehicle veered off the road because of high speed and then turned directly toward a roadside building.

Mansour Al-Dossari, spokesman for the Department of Civil Defense in Dammam, said that the rescue squad headed to the incident scene after the operating room received notice of the incident at 12 p.m.

"The incident resulted in injuries to and detention of an Arab resident who was transferred to the nearest hospital", Al-Dossari said.
