RIYADH: A special body to oversee volunteer workers in the country is urgently needed to assist with various services needed by Saudi society, according to participants at a workshop here.
Many who had gathered for a Volunteer Forum organized by the Education Ministry on Tuesday, said that the body was required to create awareness about the need for Saudi volunteers at all levels, according to a local media report Wednesday.
Mohammad Radwan, a lecturer at the forum, said the aim was to ensure positive economic, social and environmental development in the country. This needs proper resources and trained people, he was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Ziad Khamis, an expert in the paramedic and rescue field, said that 90 percent of the reports received by the Saudi Red Crescent across the Kingdom is inaccurate. He said this places the lives of people involved in accidents at risk.
