200 volunteers are set to participate in organizing the Alkhobar festival “Live Your Mood,” which will kick off on Jan. 15 under the patronage of Eastern Province Gov. Prince Saud bin Naif.

Mayor of Alkhobar Municipality and festival supreme committee chairman Essam Al-Mulla said that this participation is intended to involve young people in the festival from the outset. It also represents the identity of Alkhobar people, who love working and helping out.

“Volunteers will welcome and guide visitors to event places, contribute to the maintenance of security, and regulate traffic in parking lots,” Al-Mulla noted.

He also said that volunteers of the province have gone through several training sessions regarding festival organization. Volunteers of the Sultan bin Abdulaziz Science & Technology Center (Scitech) have held a training session to learn how to deal with emergency situations, how to deliver the injured to an ambulance, as well as receiving a detailed explanation on dealing with accidents and fires.

He added, “This measure aims to support and encourage volunteer work and focus on youth participation. It also promotes volunteerism values and builds volunteer capacity while developing communication and leadership skills within them. It also helps them in finding opportunities that fit their capabilities and aspirations.”

Volunteer teams have participated for the second consecutive year in Alkhobar festival. Municipal officials and festival visitors applauded members last year for their high efficiency and potentials.
