Heavy rainfall in the Asir region Tuesday evening covered a number of towns and population centers.

The Civil Defense Department in Asir sent safety patrols to several locations after the water mark reached dangerous levels.

They also warned of the danger in approaching streams and valleys, and urged everyone to take precautions.

Lt. Col. Moaidh Al-Shehri, Civil Defense deputy media spokesman, said that the rainfall covered Abha city and its suburbs, Khamis Mushayit and Rijal Almaa, Al-Majardh, Mahail Asir and the province of Balgarn.

He added that the rains caused flooding in a number of valleys, including wadi Dhela and wadi Al-Hayah in Tuhama Qahtan.

“No casualties have been reported to us in the whole region,” said Al-Shehri.

He called on all citizens and residents not to venture out, as crossing valleys during the rainfall is risky. He appreciated the role of the media in spreading awareness of the dangers of flooding.
