The 4th edition of the World Cities Summit (WCS) in Singapore which ends today has praised the participation of Saudi Arabia, with the biggest delegation in the summit. The summit started last Sunday.

“We are truly excited to be hosting such a large and senior group of mayors from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” Khoo Teng Chye, Center for Liveable Cities (CLC) executive director, told Arab News in a statement. CLC is the government agency behind the WCS.

He added that the Saudi delegation continues a tradition of healthy participation by government and municipal leaders from Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East region.

The Saudi delegation includes Abdulrahman Al-Dahmash, adviser to the Minister’s Office of Municipal and Rural Affairs; Dr. Khalid bin Abdulqader Taher, mayor of Almadinah Almunawwara; Saleh Bin Ahmad Al Ahmad, mayor of Qassim; Jamal Nassir Al-Mulhem, deputy mayor of Eastern Province; Dr. Hani Aburas, Jeddah mayor and Mohammed S. Al-Dabaan, deputy mayor of Riyadh for construction projects.

Joining the official municipal delegation are representatives of Emaar Economic City, an indicator of the strong bilateral links between the countries and the important discussions which take place between international city leadership and the WCS.

Held every two years in Singapore and billed as the “Davos of Cities,” WCS is one of the world’s largest gatherings of city mayors, municipal and industry leaders.

“WCS is one of the world’s largest regular platforms for government leaders and industry experts to come together to address liveable and sustainable challenges, but through collaboration and knowledge sharing we can find shared solutions,” Khoo said.
