AL-AHSA: A woman was killed and nine people were seriously injured when two vehicles collided on the Al-Uqair-Al-Oyoun Highway on Sunday. Passengers in one of the vehicles were on their way to a wedding party.

The Saudi Red Crescent personnel rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the accident and took the injured to Al-Oyoun Hospital.

The injured were later transferred to Prince Saud bin Jalawi Hospital, King Fahd Hospital and Al-Moosa Hospital. The Al-Uqair-Al-Oyoun Highway has been a scene of several traffic accidents, prompting Al-Ahsa residents to call officials in Al-Ahsa and Al-Oyoun municipalities, and transport and traffic branch in the region to illuminate the road and put speed-breakers at all intersections.

The residents appealed to the officials to make it a divided highway and put a special fence to prevent camels from straying on to the road.
