Fatima Al-Falqi, the owner of the first licensed photography center in Asir, discussed her work on women’s bridal photography, through which she portrays her unique vision of wedding parties and other happy occasions, as well as images of women documenting their official papers.

Fatima said that she has loved photography since her childhood and pursued her studies in photography at an American institute in order to learn the skills behind her profession. Fatima then continued to practice her hobby by photographing her family and friends, before she eventually obtained a license from the Ministry of Culture and Information to set up her studio in Asir.

Fatma has since turned her studio into an integrated laboratory which includes information on everything women interested in photography may need to perfect their form and techniques.

She said she has been working in this field for more than 10 years now, during which she has worked with sophisticated equipment and various studio lighting, printing machines and image editing programs.

According to Fatima, there is a significant demand for new types of albums, among them the “royal album” made of crystal, a “distinctive album” made of glass, as well as the “digital album” and the “leather album.” She said the introduction of laser technology has led to the creation of photo albums that use a remote to change images.

Fatima said she has trained many Saudi women in “snapshot art,” which involves identifying certain sites and angles for snapshots.

About the most important tools that any photographer must have, Fatima explained that it is necessary to have a sense of the beauty of things and people in order to enable the creation of a brilliant image. She said that photographers also need to be armed with scientific knowledge, and must know how to use and keep up with developments related to modern digital or high-tech cameras.

Regarding the privacy and confidentiality of her work, Fatima said she is eager to continue to provide all the requirements of her photography work in complete privacy and, upon delivering all of the images to the bride, she deletes all images she has as the work is a great responsibility and is wholly built on mutual trust.
