JEDDAH: As many as 200 young volunteers will collect Zakat Al-Fitr and distribute the same among needy families in Makkah and Jeddah on behalf of Namaa Charity Association.

The volunteers, who were selected after personal interviews, were imparted training by the association in the project called “Fitrati” through a team of experts.

Faisal bin Abdur Rahman Al-Humaid, general manager of the association, said the training was a part of Namaa’s interest in increasing the efficiency of workers. It also wants to create a positive work culture to encourage innovation and commitment.

He said the training program, which was held at the headquarters of the association in Jeddah, covered three aspects — introduction of the project and its mechanism, method of using its special electronic program and mechanism of its clients and dealing with public.

Al-Humaid said these youths would be working to implement the Zakat Al-Fitr program through 50 locations, including branches of the association spread across Jeddah, big markets and commercial centers as well as its branches in the central area of the Holy Mosque of Makkah, Saudi post offices in Jeddah and Makkah.

It is aimed at making the collection and distribution of Zakat Al-Fitr easy for the people through the association’s data bank of thousands of needy families, he said.

Meanwhile, the association is planning to distribute rice among 10,000 families this year as part of its feeding and poverty eradication program.
