Riyadh: Results of a survey on the Saudi labor force published in the 2012 bulletin of the General Statistics Department and Information, revealed that the Saudi labor force in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for those aged 15 and more amounted to 10,751,642, representing 53.4 percent of the total population who were 15 years old and more, out of whom 9,109,068 were males.
The survey also showed that the total number of the employed amounted to 10,136,393, representing 94.3 percent of the total labor force of whom males represented 87 percent. Meanwhile, unemployed amounted to 615,249, out of them 47.2 percent were males. The overall rate of unemployment was 5.7 percent.
The results also unveiled that during that period, the Saudi labor force stood at 4840154 out of whom 3,901,818 were males representing 80.6 percent. The total employed Saudis amounted to 4,251,723 representing 87.8 percent of the Saudi labor force. Meanwhile, unemployed were 588,431 representing 12.2 percent out of the Saudi labor force out of them 269,675 were males.
The bulletin said the survey was conducted on a sample of families chosen according to scientific bases taken from the outcome of the 2010 population census, covering 29,000 families in all parts of the Kingdom.
