SHB grabs lead in Interbank Bowling League

Former champion Saudi Hollandi Bank took the top spot away from defending champion PNB Unified after the eighth week in the Interbank Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (ITBR) league at the InterContinental Hotel Bowling Center here.
SHB blanked handicap-rich Alinma Tefa’al 470-0 and clinched Team of the Week honors. Main man for SHB was straight-bowler Arnel Bernabe who fired a series of 802, while teammates Rodel Yap, Clem Salazar, Gerry Ayonon and captain Greg Antonio burned the lanes with 767, 762, 757 and 757 in that order
Alinma Tefa’al team captain Robert Ting shot a series of 704 but failed to inspire his players to produce the same level of output. Veteran Romy Burgos and Soc Mejia rolled 697 and 664 while Koko Torres and Zohair Oqilan had 526 and 478. Vic Agregado contributed 339.
Alinma Aspire upset league second placer SABB Advance 340-160. Team captain Jojo de Silva, Angelo Train, Ranier Torres and Obet Mata tallied four-game series of 780, 774, 726 and 701 respectively. They were assisted by Jerry Barce and Lito Tolentino who fired 371 and 325.
SABB Advance snatched the fourth game with outstanding performance from guest player Arnold Jesena who fired eight consecutive strikes in 256 that made him the first member of Elite Bowler club this season. He was supported by Jaffer Al Kathiri, AJ Bonifacio, Sam Alinsod and Gerry Austria.
In other exciting matches, the match between PNB Unified team and SABB-SAMA ended in a 2-2 draw (160-130). However, SABB-SAMA gained the 30-bonus point in the fourth game.
The duo of Bernie Torres and Freddie Solomon led their team to victory with 755 and 747 series. They were assisted by Jun Macarandan, David Smart and Jun Bolocboloc who rolled 533, 519 and 443. Captain Teody Zulaybar had 386 while Dawood Serano added 174.
James Frizzle, Carlo Gaspar and Mixi Lechuga top-scored at PNB Unified with 792, 713 and 700. Ronald Cruz and Edwin Nunez rolled 485 and 470 while Sonny Alviso had 282.
The second match that ended in a draw was between BSF-CBG and SAIB 130-100. However, it was BSF-CBG team captained by Ken Hechanova who beat its opponent with extra 30 bonus points during the third game. The trio of Guilbert Masias, Alfred Estrada and Abet Minosa inspired their teammates with 776, 744 and 649. Ricky Dominguez and Art Bumatay tallied 520 and 465 while Dennis Buot and Hechanova had identical score of 161.
In the opposing team, it was the trio of captain Dong Calub, Ed Robillos and Boy Rogel who fired four-game series of 772, 680 and 626 to win the first and fourth games. Agie Dazo and Edwin Fontiveros compiled 545 and 477 while Siraj Zakaria had 334.
Playing bye this week was Banque Saudi Fransi which posted the second highest win points of the week on 387. Tean captain Jun Bantug burned the lanes with 834 to become the Bowler of the Week. He was assisted by the trio of Noel Morales, Edwin Timango and Francis Guron who fired 755, 741 and 734. Yousef Fernandez rolled 503 while Jerry Villanueva contributed 187.
