The Shoura Council urged the Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF) yesterday to enforce a compulsory regulation on its beneficiaries to employ 50 percent Saudi nationals in their establishments.
The 44th regular session of the council which was held yesterday in Riyadh, was presided over by it Deputy Chairman Mohammed bin Amin Jaafri.
The government has attached great importance to the industrial development by providing all kinds of support and facilities to the industrial sector. As a result, the Saudi industry has made significant progress that was clearly manifested in the growth of industrial investment since the establishment of the SIDF.
The Shoura made this request to the SIDF, during a discussion which took place when the SIDF's annual report was tabled by the council's finance committee.
The house stipulated that the SIDF, while funding projects for companies, lay down the prerequisite that 50 percent of the workers among the administrative and technical fields in those establishments should be Saudis.
The house felt that this is one way of compelling the private sector to employ more nationals in an effort to assist the government's Saudization program.
