RIYADH: Moving forward after the long summer break, Nofa Golf Resort has lined up a number of major events over the next four months starting with the 2nd Annual Nofa Golf Tournament in association with Riyad Bank that takes place on Friday.

A full field of 100 players will tee it up in shotgun start at 8 a.m. in chase of handsome prizes courtesy of the generous sponsors. The tournament is an individual 18-hole stroke play format in three divisions namely Men’s Division A (0-15 handicap), Men’s Division B (16-28) and Ladies Division.

The major prizes include iPhone 6-2 for the Best Net champion, Cannon multifunction digital camera for the Bet Gross winner. Also, a hole-in-one prize of Hyundai Santa Fe SUV worth SR100,000 sponsored by Arabian Shield is up for grabs as well as the grand raffle prize of another Cannon camera.

Talented young Filipino golfer Christer Rem Sibug is back to try and defend his Best Gross title, eager to make amends after a forgettable participation in the 50th Saudi Aramco Invitational Tournament last week at Rolling Hills Golf Club in Dhahran.

With a deep field in the event the battle for honors is expected to be tight among the skilled players from various golfing communities.

Riyad Bank is the tournament title sponsor, Hyundai Wallan Company, Almarai Company and Shell Helix Oil gold sponsors, Northern Trust silver sponsor, ITL Travel Company hole sponsor and Nofa African Resort lunch sponsor.

Golf Club Manager Nihad Mohd. Kunju said the Castrol Golf Tournament is confirmed for Dec. 12, Hyundai for January at a date to be announced and the Riyad Bank Championship for March. The club is also planning monthly medal with sponsors every month until June next year.

Owned by Prince Sultan bin Mohammed bin Saud Alkabeer, the Nofa Golf Resort inside the Nofa Resorts complex is located some 85 kilometers west of Riyadh along the new Makkah highway.
