JEDDAH: ASTEC’s 29th team tennis event since its inception in 1999 starts on Friday at the sprawling facilities of Trio-Ranch Country Club, which has 5 tennis courts. This is the 8th consecutive year that ASTEC organized the annual year-end competition in partnership with ALBAIK Food System.
The event, 8th Albaik Team Tennis Tournament 2016, attracted more than 50 teams from different clubs and will last until Nov. 12. The Men’s Division will have championships in six categories namely C, B2, B1-Mix, Lower Mix, Middle Mix, and Higher Mix. Team composition will be 4-sets of doubles pair, playing pro-8 scoring format. The Ladies Division categories are Lower Mix and Higher Mix plus the newly formed group – the Super Mix, and will have three sets of doubles pair
The tournament will adopt the ASTEC Ground Rules which has been distributed to all participating teams, while players’ classification will be based on ASTEC’s Tennis Players Classification List (TPCL) for 2016.
To highlight the opening day ceremony is the traditional parade of teams with raffle prizes from Racquet Shop and Sports Track, as well as ALBAIK meal coupons to be given away to lucky spectators and participants. Also, Best in Uniform for the different categories will be awarded.
Organized by ASTEC under the helm of Chairman Bernie Soguilon and Tournament Director Tonton Pana, this tournament is presented in partnership with Albaik Food Systems Co. Ltd., represented by Bassam Al Seyofi (PR manager), Ed Cabiedes (branch manager), and Naeem Uddin Ahmad (ALBAIK marketing specialist). This event is also supported by Deltaz Marketing (Racquet Shop) Sky Freight Forwarders and Sports Track.
