The JBL opened its 2015 Mandhoubiyah–PEAK Sodas Sports Inter-Hospital Basketball Tournament last Friday at the Khalidia basketball court here in Jeddah.

Participating teams paraded in their resplendent uniforms during the opening ceremony which JBL President Mohammed Rasheed Suyat, Ali Lumanog and Baba Ahmad of Mandoubiyah Islamic Propagation Office presided. Virgilio Abano Jr. of PEAK Sodas Sports & Shoe Arena Shop was the main guest and thanks also to Arthur for providing shoes, T-Shirts, basketballs and Tony Parker Jersey giveaways that were raffled off to the lucky spectators and participants.

The awards for the Best Team in uniform went to Al Hayat Hospital while claiming the Best Mascot awards were Erfan Bagedo Hospital and Al Mostaqbal Hospital.

In the opening game, Al Hayat Hospital of Coach Rey Madattu beat Al Mostaqbal 92-89. Al Hayat displayed excellent team work in the final quarter to defuse the Al Mostaqbal Hospital defense. Alonto Ahmad connected from all angles to topscore with 28 points for Al Hayat Hospital and was adjudged as the PEAK Sodas Sports best player of the game while Birt scored 27 points for Al Mostaqbal Hospital.

Al Salam International Hospital of coach Yousuf Almeda defeated Erfan Bagedo Hospital 79-69.

Al Salam executed its offense well in the whole game. Erfan Hospital tried hard to contain their defense but Al Salam moved the ball to the open man for a higher percentage basket. Francis had 33 points for Al Salam International Hospital and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game while Zapanta led Erfan Hospital with 17 points.
