JEDDAH: Forget about the back-and-forth for No. 1 between Casadores and D’ Barkads, for now at least. Al Murjana became the new league leader after clinching Team of the Week honors during the 9th session in the Thursday League 16th Season for Sarawat Superstores Cup at the Bowling City here.
Murjana returned the top tally of 32 points and in the process bumped D’ Barkads off the No. 1 spot after the latter could only muster 26.5 points right behind Salam Rice 29.
Jem Striker tallied 25 points, Habagat compiled 22 while Al Kabeer Frozen Foods, the early leader in the tournament, managed 17.5.
Casadores suffered a so-so night as a team on 12 points. AL Striker and sponsor team Sarawat Superstores brought up the rear on 10 and 6 points.
Nezar Al Hamwe gave his team Casadores some consolation when he bagged the Bowler of the Week award after rolling the high series of 707 on lines of 238, 234 and 235.
Salam Rice and Jem Striker topped the first and second games respectively. Murjana took the third game and overall output while finishing third in the first two games to steer clear of the pack.
Nap Patayan and Rene Ocampo struck hardest at Murjana on 688 and 620, while Frank Afurong at 570 was the other player to go three games. Richard Antonio carded 196-193, Faisal Relativo 188-226 and Mhon Laxamana 233-178.
Salam Rice had four players on rotation with Jimmy Mandigiado at the helm on 670. Jess Pineda and Emil Butardo were on 632 and 625. Sharing two games each were Atoi Cruz 183-191, Melo Dianco 182-200 and Carl Constantino 178-187.
