Al Murjana came good on a low-scoring night to claim Team of the Week honors during the fifth session in the Thursday League 12th Conference for Mobily Cup at the Bowling City in Sultanah Center here.

Murjana posted the top tally of 30 points to become the second team in the lower half of the standings to clinch in successive weeks.

Advance Co. was 3. 5 points adrift of Murjana on 26.5 with Habagat on 26.

Host team and league-leading Bowling City pooled 23 points in fourth place followed by 10th Conference winner D’ Barkads 22, Bulacan Knight 20 and Lifebuoy 16.

Jeddah 5KKB and previous week honoree Al Kabeer Frozen Goods brought up the rear on 10.5 and 6 points.

Geo Mangaliman of Habagat was the lone player to cross 600 on the way to the Bowler of the Week accolade. He shot the high series of 623 on lines of 189, 235 and 181.

Bowling City’s Cris Villavelez and Rene Punzalan of Advance Co. shot next best scores at 589 and 586. Thong Langa was three pins behind at 583 with his Murjana teammate Obie Ycasas on 580 in a tie with Jimmy Urbano of Lifebuoy to underscore the unyieldy lanes of Bowling City.

While the rest of the contenders had fluctuating fortunes Murjana was consistent and managed to pull through to the top despite not winning any of the four phases of the race.

Habagat and Bulacan Knight each won the first and second games but was just about it while Murjana finished third for the first two games and second for game 3 and overall output.

Faisal Relativo on 577 and Rene Ocampo on 517 were other players at Murjana to complete three games, while Jojie Manalansan added 215-162 and Jayson Castillo had 187.

Joel Nidoy backed up Punzalan at Advance with his series of 576 to go with the 570 by Dylan Ilagan, 568 by Richard Junio and 557 by Rey Feliciano.

Besides Villavelez the other scorers at Bowling City team were Archie Santos 562, Frank Afurong 538 and Serge Rivera 533. Ruben Grino came through with 184-187 and Sami Al Qarni contributed 213.

Manny Tibay supported Mangaliman at Habagat with 580, while Hadi Pacheco made 545, Rommel Cacampang 217-178, Edu Toledo 208-161 and Med Ramos 154-185.
