JEDDAH: ASTEC (the Association of Tennis Clubs) put the capper on its 28th tournament, the 7th ALBAIK Tennis Challenge 2015, with a belated but fitting awards gala last Friday.

The competition with a starting field of 60 teams in both the men’s and ladies divisions had started Oct. 9 and ended Nov. 28 at the tennis court facilities of Trio-Ranch Country Club.

The winners were honored during the awards night at Kenanh Hotel, which was attended by representative from the Philippine Consulate General Office in Jeddah, Vice Consul Alexander J. Estomo, and Bassam Al-Seyofi, PR manager of major sponsor ALBAIK.

Plaques and certificates were handed out to other tournament sponsors (Deltaz Marketing, SIPCO, Skyfreight Forwarders) and trophies distributed to all winners, and a sumptuous dinner capped the event to bring down the curtain for ASTEC’s year-ending tournament.

Recipients of Special Awards for Best Singles were : Ricky Delgado (Cat. “B1”), Gerardo Catalan (Cat. “B2”), while Ricky Salazar, Jr. and Alito Macadat shared the honor in Category “C”. Best Doubles Awardees are: Louie Abalos/Edwin Aquino (Cat. “C”), Ramil Abdua/Amin Paraji (Cat. “B2”), Gerardo Catalan/Jeremy Condrado (Cat. “L-Mix”), Melvin Rama/Roy Felix (Cat. “M-Mix), Tonton Pana/Cesar Panti & Bok Gregorio/Mark Lidres (Cat. “B1”), Maarouf Pantaran/Noroden Pangcoga (Cat. “H-Mix”). In the Ladies Division the Best Doubles awardees are: Ghie Asmiralde/Liberty Apacionado (Lower Mix) and Nympha Sakay/Sheila Harris (Higher Mix).

For the Best in Uniform awards, ATP-Mon tennis club was awarded the Best in Uniform in Categories “C”, “B2”, and “Lower Mix”. Other awardees are : Saudi Oger & Friends Tennis Club (Cat. “M-Mix”), Uricane (Ladies H-Mix), and Bavaria Taif (Ladies L-Mix).

In team competition, Issham International (Uricane Tennis Club) bagged the major awards with three Championship titles in Categories “Lower Mix” and “B2” in the Men’s Division, while it also clinched the title in Higher Mix-Ladies Division. Other Champions in different categories are: Cat. “C” — Saudi Binladen Group-RPDTC; Cat. “B1” – Red Sea Tennis Players; Cat. “Middle Mix” – DP World; Ladies Lower Mix – Red Sea Tennis Player; and Ladies Super Mix – Saudia City Tennis Club.
