Lexter Paul Atienza and Carms Lim emerged champions in the OFBC Kalayaan Cup 2014 one-day tournament at the Ice Land Bowling Center here.

Beginning bowler Atienza, taking advantage of a rich handicap, went all the way, topping the qualifying round and shooting a title-clinching two games series with handicap of 401 in the final featuring the 10 finalists from a starting field of 31.

Class C bowler Tirso Bambalan was first runner-up on 373. The second runner-up was another beginner, Rico Parcon, on 363 with Class C Rudy Jamon third runner-up on 360.

Lim was likewise an easy winner in the ladies division, carding 404. Fedelyn Bustinera clinched the first runner-up position on 370 with Carmen Duma and Minda Guevarra taking the second and third runners-up on 341 and 337 respectively. The top six out of the 11 that played in the four games qualifying round moved on to the two games with handicap final round.

This special event organized by Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club also doubled as a monthly tournament so that Atienza and Lim were the Bowlers of the Month for June.

The winners each received cash prize and Makati Foods gift pack from sponsor Orient Provision and Trading Co. Ltd.
