For the second time, Tirso Bambalan is a winner of OFBC special event as he emerged the Men’s Division champion in the bowling group’s Haj Bowlfest 2013 and Jannah’s Cup recently at the Ice Land Bowling Center.

Susan Patayan was the Women’s Division champion in the one-day tournament that was the third such special event after the Kalayaan Cup on June 13 and 1st year Anniversary tourney of the Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club on Sept. 13.

Bambalan beat out fellow Class C bowler Tom Langa 212-154 in the final match of the final eliminator and championship round that featured the five qualifiers after the 1-game with handicap shootout for the top 5 in Classes OAB and top 5 in Class CD.

Under the format 4 games with handicap were played to determine the top 10 men (5 each in OAB and CD) and top 5 women. In the final eliminator the top 5 men and top 5 women play 1-game shootout with handicap where one finalist with the lowest score is out until only 2 remain for the final mach.

In the men’s final eliminator first match, Hadi Pacheco was eliminated on 155. The four that remained were Bambalan 198, Tom Langa 157, Bash Langa 205 and Robert Stone.

The second match had Stone going out on 153 leaving Bambalan 162, Tom 199 and Bash 167 still standing. Bash then followed Stone to the showers in the next match that saw him score 150 to Tom’s 208 and Bambalan’s 182.

In the finale, Bambalan seemed to have peaked at the right time shooting 212, his highest score in the championship round, while Tom faded badly to 154.

Patayan was consistent and it was only in the second match that she did not shoot the leading score.

In the finale, Patayan carded 194 while Delia Jarving had 179. The top five women were Aisah Silabay, Patayan, Hyett Ann Achai, Jarving and Fatima Jintarat. First to go was Silabay followed by Jintarat and Achai.

Bambalan, who won the OFBC anniversary tournament, and Patayan both received cash prize in addition to 32-inch Toshiba LED television set courtesy of Sameh Hassanain, GM 3P Strech Company, and Rodolfo Jamon, owner of RJ Transient Houses in Baguio City in the Philippines. The rest of the winners were awarded cash prizes.

Rounding out the Men’s Division winners were Bash Langa second runner-up, Stone third runner-up and Pacheco, fourth runner-up. Achai, Jintarat and Silabay completed the first five winners in the Women’s Division.
