CHICAGO: Brandon Saad scored with 27 seconds left in the third period and the surging Chicago Blackhawks won their fifth straight game, 4-3 over the Montreal Canadiens on Friday night.

Saad snapped a shot past Corey Price from the low edge of the right circle for the winner.

Chicago’s Jonathan Toews scored a power-play goal early in the third to tie it at 3. Michal Rozsival and Ben Smith connected at even strength as the Blackhawks won for the eighth time in nine games.

Montreal’s Brendan Gallagher scored and set up 40-year-old Sergei Gonchar’s first goal in nearly a year. P.K. Subban added a power-play goal for the Canadiens.

Jets 6 Avalanche 2: In Winnipeg, Manitoba, Bryan Little scored three goals to help the Winnipeg Jets beat the Colorado Avalanche.

Little’s hat trick was the first for the franchise since Eric Boulton had three goals for the Atlanta Thrashers on Dec. 18, 2010.

Little scored twice 32 seconds apart early in the third period and also had an assist. Blake Wheeler assisted on all three of Little’s goals.

Rookie Michael Hutchinson made 20 saves for Winnipeg, which improved to 4-0-1 in its last five games.

Jarome Iginla scored both goals for the Avalanche.

Ducks 5 Wild 4: In St. Paul, Minnesota, Matt Beleskey scored the tiebreaking goal midway through the third period to lift the Anaheim Ducks over Minnesota.

Ryan Kesler had two goals, and Jakob Silfverberg and Tim Jackman also scored for the Ducks, who rallied after giving up a 3-0 lead and trailing 4-3 early in the third period.

Mikko Koivu, Zach Parise, Jonas Brodin and Justin Fontaine scored for the Wild.

Penguins acquire Klinkhammer from Coyotes

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired forward Rob Klinkhammer and a conditional draft pick from the Arizona Coyotes i for defenseman Philip Samuelsson.

Klinkhammer has three goals in 19 games this season for the Coyotes. He scored 11 goals and added nine assists in 72 games last year with Arizona and will give the Penguins needed depth up front.

Pittsburgh is without injured forward Beau Bennett and Chris Kunitz. Veteran winger Pascal Dupuis is out for at least the rest of the regular season because of blood clots in his lungs.

Samuelsson, the 23-year-old son of longtime NHL defenseman Ulf Samuelsson, played in five games for the Penguins last season. He was a second-round pick in the 2009 draft and was considered one of the organization’s top prospects.

NHL tough guy Parros retires after 9 seasons

Veteran forward George Parros announced his retirement Friday after nine NHL seasons.

Known for his trademark mustache and long hair, Parros became a fan favorite for his tough style of play and protecting teammates on the ice. He made his biggest impact during his run of five-plus seasons with Anaheim, winning the 2007 Stanley Cup with the Ducks.

Parros also played for the Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers and Montreal Canadiens during his career. He had 36 points (18 goals, 18 assists) and 1,092 penalty minutes over 474 regular-season games.

The 34-year-old native of Washington, Pennsylvania, was drafted by the Kings in the eighth round of the 1999 NHL draft.
