JEDDAH: The Trio Rancheros Tennistas kicked-off its second In-house Mini Tennis Tournament at the Trio Ranch Country Club Tennis Courts in Briman, Jeddah recently.

In the opening matches, Blue Team led by Vangie Reyes fought hard to outlast the Red team captained by Jerico Miranda. The highlight of the match was the singles between Glen Malingin of Blue Team and Dionie Elegino of the Red Team. Dionie held on and crawled for every point to outclass Glen in a thrilling tiebreaker. Dionie eventually won the match 8-7 (7-5). With this win, Blue surged ahead to the top of team standings with a 3 wins, a loss card and 29 points. Red have a win, 3 losses and 26 points.

In the next match, the Team White captained Bong was too much for the Yellow Team of Jeff-Rey Villamora. With still one match rescheduled, the White has 3 wins and 24 points while the Yellow has 3 losses and 14 points.

The Trio Rancheros are hoping that more tennis enthusiasts will be encouraged to join future mini-tournaments and hopefully field in a competitive teams in the regular tournaments being held in Jeddah.

After a successful initial mini-tournament last month, the Trio Rancheros are determined to follow this up with another mini-tournament and this time with more tennis enthusiasts joining a fun-filled and recreational tournament.

The Group has now 33 members on its list and for the second mini-tournament. Twenty-eight players were equally divided into 4 teams. Single round matches will be played with each team playing 3 doubles and 1 singles.

The matches for the day started after a short ceremony with an opening remark from Vice-Chairman Joe dela Cirna and an inspirational message by former ASTEC Chairman Bernie Soguilon.
