JEDDAH: D’ Barkads turned in a hat trick of Team of the Week awards prior to the positioning round during the 18th session in the Sarawat Superstores Thursday Bowling League 13th Season Bowling City in Sultanah Center.

Like in the past two times they won the coveted award D’ Barkads were the ones to come through at the top in tough scoring conditions.

This time D’ Barkads managed 30 points, edging out Sawary Energy and AL Striker which tied on 29 points.

Defending champion Magnolia Ice Cream sits alone in fourth place on the night with 23 points followed by Habagat 22, BCT-Hokbi Fashion 19 and Al Murjana 14 points. RJ Tumbador and Carling Sport Wear brought up the rear on 9 and 5 points.

Tonight’s positioning will decide the top three outright finalists. While Al Murjana looks to have a comfortable lead at No. 1 the race to top three situation is still unpredictable with Habagat still with a mathematical chance to topple Murjana at No. 1. Magnolia in turn could yet replace Habagat at No. 2 although the third spot remains a toss-up between Magnolia and Sawary Energy.

The remaining 6 teams play a knockout game of 3 handicap series with the highest three scorers to join the top three for the championship round matches.

Bing Amolo completed a D’ Barkads double when he claimed the Bowler of the Week award, scoring the third tournament-best score of 723 behind Mohd Al Amri (746) and Igna Salgado (728).

With Amolo at the helm D’ Barkads used a strong finish to move past Sawary and AL, which blew its best chance at ending its victory drought in this five-man team Thursday night league event.

Amolo shot games of 229, 207 and 345 to pace teammates Rudy Valenzuela 631, Dan Ednave 585 and Obie Ycasas 534. Sharing D’ Barkads’ remaining three games were Ed Sardina 192-170 and Leo Edejer 170.

Sawary essayed a five-man team rotation led by Paolo Allego who drilled 664. Edwin Ronquillo carded 644 that went with th 597 by Doods Versoza, 592 by Tope Sayson and 531 by Ric Nangel.

The Team of the Week honors is still tough to crack for AL despite the trio of Cesar Monares, Bonnie Garcia and Phepz Niere hitting solid series of 638, 621 and 611. Cesar Pagtalunan on 552 was the other player to go the distance while Gerry Lim had 184-189 and Ally Bin had 177.
