It’s still early days but it seemed like D’ Luf’s Strikers can’t wait to prove their worth as the team to watch in the OFBC Friday Morning League 5+1 Season 3 at the Ice Land Bowling Center here.

During the fifth session, Luf’s, after a gap of one week, added the perfect double to its perfect grand slam feat on the way to another Team of the Week award in the young five-man team competition.

Unlike others before them Luf’s Strikers totally cashed in when their turn came to play against the bye team, gaining an automatic 20 match points and rank points of 8 for first place off total pinfalls of 2,631 to finish with the maximum possible total of 28 points.

And Danny Francisco made it a double celebration when he put away the men’s Bowler of the Week award after shooting the high series of 570 on scratch lines of 139, 208 and 169.

League leader Taurus has yet to win a team award and yet its consistency has kept this Raul delos Reyes-led squad at the top of the team standings.

Taurus shut out D’ RJ’s Cardinals 20-0 and its total pinfalls of 2,572 boosted it to session total of 27 points, with first honoree Velocity Strikers on 26 following their 20-0 blanking of The Pinbusters on total pinfalls of 2,533-2,401 and rank points of 6-2.

In the other match, American Garden which like Luf’s has two awards so far under its belt brought down Cyclone Star 16-4 (2,528-2,456).

Despite the defeat, Cyclone did not go home empty-handed thanks to Fatima Jintarat who claimed the ladies Bowler of the Week accolade on 565 while setting 3 new records to beat as follows: high series scratch 523, high series with handicap 565 and high game scratch 202.

The others that entered new highs in the record books were Taurus’s Edwin Ronquillo (high game with handicap 234) and Farida de Guzman (high game with handicap 219).

Randa de Guzman and Cesar Pagtalunan shot 534 and 495 in support of Francisco at Lufs, while with two games each were Cromwel Marzo 126-155, Farida 175-189 and Rommel Marasigan 135-128.

The trio of Hadi Pacheco, Ronquillo and Ric Nangel bowled solid for Taurus on 547, 544 and 522 in that order with the rest of the games shared by Gil Cabral 131-112 and Regino Mendoza 136.

Benjie Espinosa and Shirley Sagmit rolled 541 and 518 at the helm of American Garden, which also netted 494 from Archie Alcantara, 475 from Louie Pasia, 142-143 from tom Lnaga and 167 from skipper Bob Stone.
