Robert De Guzman and Minda Guevarra led the latest group of winners during the November monthly qualifying for the Bowler of the Year championship on Dec. 13 at the Ice Land Bowling Center here.

Class B bowler De Guzman went all the way after topping the four qualifying games to become the men’s Bowler of the Month for November as he booked his place in the finale where the grand champions will each receive Iphone 5 smartphone courtesy of Abdulrahman Al-Omran, CEO of Tahweel Integrated, according to organizing OFBC (Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club).

It was a fulfilling Bowler of the Month win for Guevarra having finished first runner-up three times during the April, May and September monthlies and second runner-up in October.

De Guzman, with a 12 handicap per game, carded 385 pinfalls during the finals over two games on scratch games of 170-191, well in front of Rene Martinez, another Class B bowler who finished first runner-up on 369 (169-176). Class D Rudy Ramos was second runner-up on 349 (134-155) and Romy Bunagan third runner-up on 347 (159-152).

Unlike De Guzman Guevarra had to fight to the finish winning on countback from Lenlen Berina after they tied on 355 in the finals. Guevarra shot games of 159-144 while Berina had 154-129. Merlen Pamintuan was second runner-up on 328 while Shirley Sagmit rounded out the Ladies Division winners on 320.

Orient Provision Trading Co. through Stone donated the 5kg bag of rice to each of the two division winners who along with the rest of the placers also received cash prize from the organizers.
