JEDDAH: In form Deccan Knights scored a comfortable 44-run victory over Jawar Al-Jazirah in the final to bag the Premier Division cricket title for the Ace Travel Cup, organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association.

Jawar Al-Jazirah won the toss and surprisingly decided to field. The Knightsmen struck in the first over as they saw the back of opener Sohail who failed to score.

However, Abdul Quddoos Athar played a pivotal role and hit a brilliant 81 runs, which included 8 fours and a six. He garnered most of the strike and guided his partners around him. Najeeb hit 39 runs off 26 balls, which included 6 fours and a six while Inayat played a sedate innings of 29 runs off 39 balls. Later, Afroz used the long handle to good effect and scored 40 runs off 21 balls. Afsar chipped in with 29 as Deccan Knights reached 237 for 5. Adnan took 2 for 40 while Asim, Shaun and Omar had a wicket each for 50, 44 and 27 runs respectively.

In reply, Jawar Al Jazirah were off to a good start of 60 runs Asim (27) and Shan Manzoor (35). Later Amer came in and played a watchful innings of 52, which came off 34 balls inclusive of four sixes and 2 fours. He was supported by Sajid (36) and Adel (28), as Jawar Al Jazirah reached 203 for 6 and still needed 35 runs off 6 overs. At this stage there was a technical glitch due to which Jawar Al Jazirah conceded the match. ICC Irfan Basha finished third.
