Egypt Selection avenged its first round defeat to Western Union with a hard-earned 92-90 victory in their match last Thursday during the 8th week of action that saw a heavy 10-game schedule in the Microsoft Lumia & 36th FBA Basketball Tournament at the Sheraton Jeddah Hotel court.

The victory gave the Egyptians a 2-1 card in the Inter-Commercial Open Rated Division as they gained a psychological boost ahead of their much-awaited much with archrival Lebanese Community Basketball Team, which leads the division on 2-0.

KIA Motors continued its strong showing in Inter-Company Division A, thrashingVicky & Sam’s Pride 97-86 in the fourth game Thursday.

Toyota Forklift Otex, bracketed in the 11-team Inter-Company D, hammered out an 82-79 triumph over McVities in the first game Friday. It was the third win in five games for Forklift to be in a tie with Dar Jana, a 72-69 winner over AMI Pioneer in the third game Thursday.

Alociwa, named co-Best Player with teammate Alayan, top-scored for Forklift with 19 points. Diaz tallied 18 points, Tayamin 15 and Camcaman 7 in a balanced offense that put to naught David’s 33-point performance at McVities.

Gonzales made 17 points for McVities.

Elsewhere, Maaden crushed Legends 74-53 to a snap a two-game losing streak and in an Inter-Company Jeddah United edged out Saudi German Hospital 60-59 in a pair of Inter-Company C games played Thursday and Friday respectively.

Reloj was the main man at Maaden, scoring 33 big points to justify his selection as the Best Player, while Lee added 18, Manuel 9 and Belleza 7.

For Jeddah United, Issa scored 22 points on his way to the Best Player award while Ibrahim tossed in 14 points and Amir 12 points.

In other games, it was Sadia 83 Bindawood 72, Nexus 93 and Al Muhaidib 85.

Microsoft Lumia is the major sponsor of the tournament organized in partnership with Team-Up Event Management headed by Mustafa Al-Saady and Rashad Barmada.
