Ekis-6 and Pin Crushers were locked in a breathtaking last frame tussle when, after trailing by as much as three marks, the former returned pressure to the latter as Zaldy Bacero and Malou Gime bagged doubles forcing their rivals’ anchor to a must-strike and a spare which did not happen and team captain Ernie Geslani and the entire Ekis team roared in celebration of their championship victory in the FEDBG Friday Morning Bowling League 15th Conference at the Bowling City here.

The match was actually a classic exchange of marks till the seventh frame wherein team captain Jay Bengco and Jhimmy Urbano led Pin Crushers while no one could lead a breakthrough for Ekis.

Pin Crushers even strengthened their grip on the lead when Ruel Santoc, Aileen Miralbuna and Dariel Loquias rolled strikes on the ninth frame which Bacero tried to block with double plus a strike from Jimmy Mandingiado just to sustain that three marks disparity.

Bengco then cleaned out for 209 to control Bacero who despite another strike could only score 189. Santoc supported Bengco on 182 but Mandingiado backed up Bacero with 202 to level for the sides’ two players at 391-all. But a double and seven by Gime for a 206 put Ekis in better place as Aileen could only share 158 for a 597-549 computation. A 204 from Urbano to 198 by Relativo recovered thirteen pins from 48 headway of Ekis. After Rudy Valenzuela could only share 160 Dariel Loquias now has the responsibility of bagging strike first even though Rey Beltran had lowly contributions of 144 and 163.

With perfect stance, lefty Loquias released the deciding ball only to be dismayed when 4-7-8 pins were left standing to the delight of Ekis, as even if those pins were converted into spare Ekis-6 could not be deprived of the title.

Ekis-6, the 10th Conference champion, clinched the crown again on final tallies of 1102-1087 leaving Pin Crushers as the first runner-up.

Finishing third were Cool Guys of Jun de Dios, followed by Lance & 3rdy of Ric Reformado and Fine Boys (FB) Rhinos of Rod Lofamia. Defending champion Micah’s Pride, Hal Falcons, BCT Mongoose, Crystal HQ and Shawly Still Solid respectively captained by Ester Santoc, Rene Ocampo, Emil Payongayong, Jayson Castillo and Nelson Hofer, made up the consolation awardees in this tournament.
