JEDDAH: Looks like Ekis Reload is set to dominate at the top of the team standings following back-to-back Team of the Week awards during the 11th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 36th Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City here.

The consecutive TOW victories enabled Ekis of Ernie Geslani to become the first team with three honors thus far halfway through this five-man team Friday afternoon league event.

Ekis Reload finished the session on 46 points ahead of Sagmit Dental Clinic which compiled 43 points with Cristal-Rock n Roll on 41.

D’ Barkads returned 36 points in fourth position on the day followed by Sadafco and Hidada Ltd., which tied on 34. Pinslashers came up with 27 points, Saudia Ice Cream 24, JP Gilas 2 22 and Zekiesha 19. Sky Freight-OSN, Patsamba and rookie team United Doctors Hospital were the last three to check in on 18, 15 and 5 in that order.

Cristal’s Eloisa Fernandez and Nap Patayan of Patsamba ruled the individual Bowler of the Week race, Fernandez on the distaff side on 668 and Patayan on the men’s division on 721.

Ekis did not win a game though it finished as the team with the best overall output on sheer consistency as the rest of the contenders for honors had wildly fluctuating fortunes. Consider: Hidada won the first game but tumbled next to last in the next game and Sagmit won the last two games but started poorly in ninth place for a mere 5 points.

For the three games Ekis went third-fourth-second in a sustained display that saw Zaldy Bacero shoot 639 and the ladies duo of Alma Bacero and Malu Gimie score 620 and 543 respectively. With two game each were Faisal Relativo 254-235, George Mangaliman 201-213 and Emil Payongayong 203-234.

Philip Raymundo and Ruel Santoc carded 673 and 670 at the helm of Sagmit Dental Clinic with Ester Santoc on 599 and Evelyn Santoc on 565. Ric Reformado and Ding dela Rosa completed the scoring on 206-220 and 236.

Besides Eloisa the others who enjoyed notable performances at Cristal were Mohd. Al Amri 673 and Aileen Miralbuna 555. Jojie Manalansan, champion at the STC Bowling Tournament which ended last week, had valuable contribution of 209-223, Jess Pineda added 191-180 and Rene Ocampo 199-204.

At D’ Barkads, the six-man rotation that was employed had Bing Amolo on 670, Cheryl Tibay 616, Thess Grandia 509, Leo Edejer 216-200, Rally Zamora 219-204 and Ed Sardiña 225-192.
