The 3rd Annual CCOR (Canadian Community of Riyadh) Open Golf Tournament 2015 was successfully organized recently at Dirab Golf & Country Club in another fun event to remember.
When the dust settled, the team of Bouchaib El Jadiani, Majed Sorour, Taymour Alireza and Ambassador Thomas McDonald of the Embassy of Canada was crowned the champion in the four ball Texas Scramble format competition.
The winning quartet posted a net score of 56 from a gross of 62 and team handicap of 6.
Bouchaib and his crew made the turn on 3-under but they were even deadlier coming home as they birdied each of the holes except for Nos. 15 and 17. Seven of the total 10 birdies fell in succession starting on the eighth hole. The team’s first birdie was on No. 3 and the other two on 17 and 18.
The rest of the first five winners were tied on 57 and their final placings decided after a countback to the back nine score.
The foursome of Gary McGlinchey, Darryl Mogridge, Brian Rychlicki and Irene Rychlicki had the lowest back nine score of 31 among the four tied teams to claim the runner-up position. They returned a gross score of 64 and played off 7 handicap.
The third place went to Alan Commins, Downal Hutchinson, Kelly Chiasson and Jean Marc Coupet who combined for 65 with an 8 handicap.
The team of Bob Bruford, John Molony, Akim Hank and Brian Dreyer also tallied 65 and had 8 handicap but with a higher back nine of 33 to Commins team’s 32 to settle for fourth place.
Mark Campbell, Ress Gordon, Chris Walter and Tim Douglas rounded out the top five with a gross score of 64 and 7 handicap.
The awards for men’s and ladies longest drive went to Paul Siffre and Hyejin Byoun and for closest to the pin to Paul West.
The tournament was organized by CCOR Committee led by CCOR president Lynn Long and Tim Douglas in cooperation with Dirab Golf Club.
