Three teams solidified their hold to move into the category B2 quarterfinals of the 6th ALBAIK Tennis Challenge 2014 at Trio Ranch courts.

SPTC edged erstwhile leader and unbeaten Toyota in a squeaker, winning via super tiebreak after ending the match in a 2-2 deadlock.

ELAF on the other hand went straight wins in the first three sets to defeat Uricane with a 3-1 advantage.

Earlier in the week, team Toyota won against team Uricane with a 3-1 scorecard. In the Ladies Division, the semifinals matches will pit team ELAF against RSTP in the category LMX Group 1, while in the category HMX it will be between ABTC Taif versus SCTC.

Samahang Pinoy Tennis Club (SPTC) took the top seed in Group 2 of the category B2 after beating team Toyota via super tiebreak 13-10. SPTC’s Moi Noto and Mario Betorio lost the first set 7-8 to Marlon Ordono and Jun Queano to register a 0-1 score. In the second set Herbert Amores and Bobring Yparraguirre won at 8-5 over James Ventic and Nour Panizales to put SPTC at an even 1-1 card. Then Cesar Quilendrino and Gary Bautro lost out 1-8 in the third set to Ben Consolacion and Romeo Espino that put Toyota ahead at 2-1 with a five point lead. It was thru the heroics of Memed and Yul Perez which ended the fourth set at an even 2-2 score and a 24-all point tally after winning against Jeff and Joe with an 8-3 score necessitating a super tie-break extension which SPTC won 13-10.

ELAF Group had a heyday against Reem Riviera-Uricane registering a 3-1 victory. First set was taken by ELAF’s Cats Catalan and Rey Tablang with an 8-7 tie-break win against Roel Manarang and Reygil Millabangio this was followed by the second set 8-7 tie-break win of Zaldy and Jonathan Contreras over Waleed Batestil and Joe Aquino for a commanding 2-0 lead by ELAF. In the third set, ELAF team captain Jun Atienza took charge with Marlon Pagsanjan to conquer Ricky Salazar and Lito Zamudio with a punishing 8-1 rout to close out the match for ELAF. Fourth set was won by team Uricane with Ramil Lorzano and Ronnie Organo registering an 8-0 win over Cris Balles and Vic Alvaran for the final tally of 3-1.

Toyota won over team Reem Riviera-Uricane earlier on within the week via a 3-1 score card. Scoring successive wins with Ben Consolacion and Romeo Espina scoring an 8-4 against Waleed Batestil and Joe Aquino in the first set, then Nour Panizales and James Ventic’s 8-5 score over Roel Manarang and Reygil Millabangio in the second set. Claiming the third set and the outright win for team Toyota was Jun Ordonez and Marlon Ordono’s 8-5 victory against Ronnie Organo and Ramil Lorzano. Fourth set saw Uricane’s Mike and Ricky Salazar winning over Jeff and Joe with an 8-4 card.
