JEDDAH: Erfan Hospital of Doctor Ahmed Erfan beat Jeddah JDC 88-80 to clinch the Inter-Company Group C title in the JBL Invitational Basketball Tournament at Bin Mafouz court on Thalia St. at Al Andalus District here.

It was a ding-dong battle up to final quarter. Erfan Hospital went to the open man in the crucial minutes of the game as JDC started to lose steam. Noli scored 20 points for Erfan Hospital and was adjudged as the Giordano Best Player of the game while Morhaf top-scored with 20 points for Jeddah Dawa Center.

Mini Cooper of Rommel Jugo defeated Hyundai Genesis 108-82 for third place. It was a high scoring ballgame as both teams showed their offensive skills up to the last quarter. Mini Cooper showed some fresh legs in the final quarter as Hyundia started to lose their tempo due to tiredness. Sherwin Cabading had 25 points for Mini Cooper and was adjudged as the JBL Best Player of the game while Dennis Elmenzo showed his old form converting perimeter jumpers for 18 points.

Chili’s of Alfredo Villas beat Fuddruckers 69-67 to advance to the best-of-three series for Inter-Naghi championship. Both teams played good defense. Fuddruckers missed a potential game-tying basket as the final buzzer sounded. Deipharine led Chili’s with 19 points and was adjudged as the Arab News Best Player of the game while Melendrez top score with 20 points for Fuddruckers.

Nissan GTR of Francis Gallego defeated Al Muhaidib 69-64 in overtime to grab the championship trophy for Group A. Nissan GTR showed heart in the crucial minute of the game as Muhaidib’s Pablo Viscayno continued to attack its defense. Jason Villanueva had 13 points for Nissan GTR and was adjudged as the JBL best player while Gary Fadernal scored 21 points for Al Muhaidib.

Rabya of coach Richard Sotto beat Saudi Diyar 56-55 to claim the Group B title. Rabya went to the open man for their final assault. Saudi Diyar missed an important jumper handing Rabya its first championship trophy in JBL. Manalang scored 18 points for Rabya and was adjudged as the JBL Best Player of the game.
