JEDDAH: The Expandabowls took advantage of an easy assignment against cellar-dweller Saudi German Hospital to win their second Team of the Week award during the ninth session in the OFBC Friday Afternoon League Season 6 at the Iceland Bowling Center here.
The Expandabowls shut out SGH 20-0 on total pinfalls of 2,039 and 1,894 and rank points of 8 and 1 to finish the session with the highest total win points of 28.
Nilobabes sustained their fine form, beating RTJ Transient House 16-4 on total pinfalls of 2,060-2,005 in a matchup of past and present league leaders in the four-man team Friday league event organized by Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club.
League No. 1 Nilobabes gained the second-best total of 26 points in the victory while RTJ settled for 10 points as it went down to its second straight defeat. Early league leader RTJ, however, had some consolation when one of its bowlers, Archie Alcantara, bagged the Bowler of the Week award after shooting the high series of 580 on lines of 181, 160, 185.
Velocity Strikers continued their downward spiral after notching a breakthrough Team of the Week victory, taking an 18-2 drubbing at the hands of Arci-5 on total pinfalls of 2,025-1,946 and rank points of 7-3. It was the third straight defeat for Velocity.
Arci-5 ended up on 25 points for the session in a tie with Toshi, which downed Youngsters 16-4 ( 2,057-2,000 and 7-5).
The previous week honoree, Al-Tayyer United Contracting left Shadow Bowlers frustrated for the second straight time after winning their match 18-2 (1,999-1,924 and 4-2). Al-Tayyer, which edged Shadow Bowlers for honors in the last session, tallied 22 Week 9 points.
Winning the ladies Bowler of the Week plum was Toshi’s Vivian Sacramed who rolled 549.
Danny Atubang and Marlyn Mangunay shot 555 and 549 at the vanguard of the Expandabowls’ charge. Team captain Gil Catral came through with 500 and Jon Belo added 435 for the team that took its first accolade during the third week.
Nap Patayan bowled solid for Nilobabes on 570 with Epoy Santos on 547 that went with the 508 by Babes Yushimine and 435 by Susan Patayan.
Ramon Fabro and Sergio Modar were the Arci-5’s 1-2 punch on the day with 561 and 525 while Delia Javing made 494 and Neth Modar 445.
Vivian’s effort at Toshi did not go to waste with good numbers from Rico Bulalayao 545, Cesar Sacramed 624 and skipper Ryan Liwagon 439.
The Al-Tayyar quartet that crafted the win vs. Shadow were the husband and wife team of Alex Duma 554 and Carmen Duma 533 as well as Jojo Esperanzate 459 and Jack Jarin 453.
