JEDDAH: The Expandabowls scored their breakthrough Team of the Week victory during the third session in the OFBC Friday Afternoon League Season 6 at the Iceland Bowling Center here.
The Expandabowls, captained by Gil Catral, finished the day on 29 points as they shut out Shadow Bowlers 20-0 on total pinfalls of 2,102 and 1,8072.
The team total series with handicap was worth 9 rank points for The Expandabowls who edged Toshi, another 20-0 winner over Arci-5, for team honors.
Toshi had 28 points for the session, its total pinfalls of 2,067 counting for 8 rank points. Arci-5 carded 1,884 for 3 rank points.
Two-time Team of the Week winner RTJ Transient House of Rudy “RJ” Jamon missed three in a row after it settled for 26 points, the result of its 16-4 victory over Dr. Mohammed Khattab’s Saudi German Hospital on total pinfalls of 2,163 and 1,952 and rank points of 10 and 5.
RTJ, however, did not go home empty-handed as it swept the individual men’s and ladies Bowler of the Week awards courtesy of Conrad Baltazar and Malou Nidoy.
Baltazar shot the high series with handicap of 587 on lines of 179, 196 and 158 while Nidoy rolled 554 (146, 162, 174).
In other matches in the young tournament, Nilobabes whipped Al-Tayyer United Contracting Co. 16-4 (1,999-1,981) and Velocity Strikers blasted Youngsters 14-6 (1,925-1,865).
Marlyn Mangunay and Catral were the top contributors to the Expandabowls’ total with rounds of 553 and 552. Danny Atubang and Jon Belo just missed 500 with their 499 and 498 respectively.
Toshi got a boost from the duo of Cesar Sacramed and Rico Bulalayao who fired 582 and 564 to go with the 494 by Vivian Sacramed and 427 by Ryan Liwagon.
Ed Cordova tallied 531 and Archie Alcantara added 491 to complement Nidoy, who claimed her second indivividual award, and Baltazar at Transient House.
Nilobabes had Nap Patayan leading the scoring on 577. Team captain Babes Yushimine compiled 481, Epoy Santos contribtued 475 and Susan Patayan made 466.
For Velocity Strikers, the trio of Jeff Magallanes, Vic Gonzales and Bonie Maelom crossed the 500-series on 540, 539 and 509.
