Bank AlJazira Fawri came up with a performance that merited a Team of the Week award during the third session in the OSN-FTBJ 50th Open Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City here.

Fawri returned the top tally of 42 points as it recovered from a so-so display the previous week.

BTC-Lutong Pinoy was two points back on 40. Three-time champion Sky Freight-OSN pooled 37 points as it wrested the early lead from D’ Barkads afer the latter virtually collapsed following a Team of the Week award-winning display in the last outing to finish on 17 points, next to last on the night.

Al Murjana and Extreme-Taurus tied on 32 points with MC Hammer on 27.

There was a further tie on 24 points between Alfa Moe Yasser and GBI TBBGI.

Habagat compiled 23 points while Hal Falcon brought up the rear on 10 points.

To Paul Antiporda of BCT-Lutong Bahay went the individual Bowler of the Week award as he rolled the high series of 673 on lines of 182, 185 and 243.

Fawri enjoyed a fast start, winning the first two games as the trio of Randy Mata, Jowet Carion and Bing Amolo bowled pretty well on 666, 624 and 606. The three others in the rotation namely Ariel Urquia, Atoi Cruz and Luis Luna each contributed two games on 183-192, 189-191 and 197-171 in that order.

Emy De Guzman’s Sky Freight-OSN had Goying Salazar grabbing team scoring honors on 647 with Nanding Siasoco on 597 and Bonnie Garcia on 569. James Galvan tallied 182-181, Rod Morales 178-160 and Oca Bernabe 225-204.

Elo Manalo and Ruel Santoc were chief in building the Murjana total on 638 and 626, while Archie Santos added 574, Nap Patayan 562 and Roger Daquiaog had 507.

At Extreme-Taurus Joel Nidoy led a five-man team on 610 followed by Jimmy Urbano 602, Reggie Mendoza 595, Jun Pamintuan 591 and Raul delos Reyes 569.

ICBL 35th Conference

Meantime, the Friday afternoon league bowlers swing back into action after a long break when the ICBL (Inter-Commercial Bowling League) 35th Conference rolls off 1 p.m. today at the Bowling City.

Defending champion Purefoods, which will now campaign under the banner of Sadafco, leads the 12 teams in the fold. JP Gilas, the top seed team beaten by Purefoods in the last conference, will be back as Murjana while Rene Ocampo is fielding two teams in this five-man team league event organized by FTBJ (Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Jeddah).
