Following the success of its previous tournament that ended on March 01, FBA is all set to open its 34th Season next Friday at 5 p.m. featuring more than 30 teams at the Sheraton Jeddah Hotel Sports Complex here.

This is another milestone for FBA considering the short gap between tournaments, FBA President Edgar Mendoza said. “It is indeed very inspiring that the continuous support and trust of many basketball aficionados in Jeddah for FBA are always there and continue to grow. They are our inspirations and strength in continuously conducting this type of community event. As of to date, there are around 40 teams already been registered and have shown interest in joining the coming season,” Mendoza added.

Principally sponsored by Nokia Asha, the FBA 34th Season promises a more colorful and festive opening day.

The tournament has five competitive divisions with teams as follows:

Inter-Company Bona fide A – Al-Baharawi, Al-Hamrani (RBF), Fakeeh Hospital, Hanco, Nesma, Huta Group, Institute of Pablic Admin (IPA), Sarco-Shoaiba and Rabigh 2; Inter-Company Bona fide B – Alshaya-New Breed, Focus Advertising, Ford Jazirah Motor Vehicles, ME-Mega, Saudi Amana, Setra, Takbo-Body Shop and Tetra Pak. Inter-Hotel & Restaurant – Movenpick Al-Nawras Resort, Hyatt Park Hotel, Steak House, Inter-Continental Hotel, Al-Tazaj, Subway, Ramada Hotel, Shadow Lounge and Sheraton Jeddah Hotel; Inter-Commercial Open Non-rated Division – Maharlikans-IMC. Balik Islam, Friendster, Paninos, Saudi Bin Laden (SBG), Al-Muhaidib, KFAFH, Rabigh 1, Mohap & Al-Zafer Cargo; Inter-Commercial Open Rated Division – SAMCO-Juffali, Shadow Lounge, Friendster and Faisal Park.

Filipino Basketball Association is the longest running basketball league here in Jeddah and is being supported as well this season by Toya of Pinehill Arabia Food Limited, the House of Donuts and Ali Café.

With Mendoza in the FBA are Commissioner Jonathan Canda, together with Jeddah Officiating Group (JOG) led by Noel Miguel and other committee members, Angel Garcia, Mario Delos Santos, Jason Manacsa, Jessie Sales and others.
